About The Gallery

Founded in Pretoria in 2006 by Mahdis Hartley, Persepolis Art Gallery began with a focus on finely crafted artisanal carpets and timeless design. As the gallery expanded to Cape Town, its collection evolved to embrace contemporary sculpture and exceptional African art.

Today, Persepolis Art Gallery presents a curated selection of contemporary artworks by established and emerging artists, with a particular focus on sculpture. The gallery is especially recognised for its distinctive collection of face sculptures, alongside body sculpture, animal sculpture and other contemporary works.

From individual artworks to statement pieces and custom sculpture commissions, Persepolis connects collectors, art lovers, interior spaces and businesses with distinctive works that explore form, identity, culture and artistic expression.
